Apple Plum Crisp With Oatmeal Walnut Topping
Golden Delicious apples are among the best to bake with: they cook up crisp and tender and keep their sweet flavor.
Filling:
3 pounds golden delicious apples, peeled and thinly sliced
1 pound Italian plums, quartered
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Topping:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 sticks butter, softened to room temperature
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup oats
1 cup chopped walnuts
- Preheat oven to 375F; coat a 9 by 12-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Toss together the filling ingredients and transfer to the baking dish. In a clean bowl, combine the topping ingredients, working it with your fingertips until the mixture is in course crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over the filling.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until the filling bubbles up on the edges and the apples are very soft.
